Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has praised Morgan Rogers for his improvement since leaving the club. Guardiola is impressed by the young winger’s performance with Aston Villa this season.

WHAT HE SAID?

Before City’s match against Aston Villa, Guardiola recalled Rogers’ time at Manchester City’s second team. The City manager said Rogers sometimes trained with the first team, and the coaching staff could see his talent. Although they saw Rogers’ potential, Guardiola admitted his impact at Villa has exceeded expectations. He described Rogers as “an exceptional player” displaying his quality in the Premier League.

ROGERS’ ASTONISHING RISE AT VILLA

Morgan Rogers joined Aston Villa from its academy in January and has become an important player for Unai Emery. This season, the 22-year-old has contributed with several goals and assists in over 1,000 Premier League minutes. Villa are firmly in seventh place, competing for Champions League qualification with 67 points, and only 2 points behind 4th place City. Rogers’ contributions have maintained Villa’s lead in the race for the top four.

WHAT COMES NEXT?

Aston Villa faces Manchester City next in the Premier League. This is a match that may see Villa drop out of the race for the CL spots, or City lose ground, depending on the result. Rogers is expected to play again, with his form making him a breakout star since the winter transfer window. Aston Villa and England’s national team might benefit if he continues developing in the upcoming months.
