Strasbourg have secured the future of head coach Liam Rosenior, who has signed a new contract running until June 2028. After impressing in his debut campaign in Ligue 1, and steering them towards European qualification, he has been rewarded with an extended stay and a salary increase.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Rosenior quickly stamped his defined style on Strasbourg after arriving last summer, with his side sitting seventh in Ligue 1 with three games remaining. The club leadership has been impressed by his favourably judging his performance and the progress the team has made, hence the decision to reward him with a new long-term contract. Speaking after his contract renewal, Rosenior spoke of his “immense pride” in extending his stay with Strasbourg, while also expressing gratitude for the trust shown in him by club president Marc Keller and the club ownership. He lauded the club’s values of intensity, courage and unity and stated that he believes him and his players have the ability to “build something special” in the coming years.

STRASBOURG’S TURNAROUND UNDER ROSENIOR

Rosenior, who arrived from Hull City in July 2024 to replace Patrick Vieira at the helm, has overseen an improved run of form for Strasbourg in Ligue 1. They are very much in the race for a finish in the European places, sitting just behind sixth-place Lens and three points ahead of Nice in eighth. The style of play, club stability as well as attractive football seen under Rosenior has been praised by the club’s management and supporters. Strasbourg president Marc Keller has already laid down the long-term vision for the club, and told the Ligue 1 website about the coach’s total commitment, which he considers to be of paramount importance as the club renovates their home stadium La Meinau, and target further growth.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR ROSENIOR AND STRASBOURG?

As the season approaches its climax, Strasbourg are set to face Stade Rennais next in Ligue 1. Rennes, currently ninth in the table, are only two points behind Strasbourg and hence the upcoming match could be pivotal in the race for European places. Thereafter, only two games remain and every point will be crucial as Strasbourg seek to either hold their position or climb higher in the standings. Rosenior’s renewed contract hands Strasbourg some much-needed stability and a clear vision as they continue their bid to rebuild and secure success in French football.
