Manchester United Boss Amorim Hints at Major Changes Coming This Summer

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim says big changes are coming at Old Trafford this summer. The Portuguese coach spoke about this as the team prepares for an important cup final and thinks about the future.

WHAT HAPPENED?

In a press conference before Manchester United’s big match, Amorim said that big changes are coming to the club. “We need to think about A LOT of things for next season,” said the 39-year-old manager.

He wants everyone at the club to think seriously about the future. He said the final is important but there are “bigger things to think about” and a need to “change a lot of things at the end of the season.”

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Amorim took over from Erik ten Hag on November 1, 2024, and it has been a tough first season at Old Trafford. The former Sporting CP manager came with high hopes after doing well in Portugal. He won the league twice with Sporting, breaking their 19-year title drought.

However, moving to the Premier League has been tough. United is currently 6th in the table, 12 points behind leaders Arsenal and just 3 points ahead of 7th-placed Newcastle.

The Red Devils have shown some of the attacking football that Amorim’s Sporting teams were known for, using his 3-4-3 formation with attacking wing-backs. But inconsistency has been a problem, with just one win in their last five league matches hurting their chances for a Champions League spot.

WHAT NEXT FOR MANCHESTER UNITED?

All eyes are on United’s Europa League final against Tottenham, as it is the only chance either team has at European Qualification next season. Amorim has the chance to win his first trophy with the club. After that, it seems a big summer rebuild is needed, based on what Amorim has said.

With the transfer window opening soon, United fans can expect big changes to the team. United face Fulham at Old Trafford in their final Premier League game this weekend. They need a win to secure a Europa League spot for next season.

The match gives Amorim one last chance to look at his squad before deciding who stays and who goes as part of his planned changes.
