Hansi Flick Signs New Barcelona Deal Until 2027 After Brilliant First Season In Charge At Camp Nou
Hansi Flick is set to extend his stay at Barcelona by another year with the German signing a new contract with the club that will keep him at Camp Nou until June 2027. The contract has already been agreed upon and will be signed officially after all the details are finalised and approved.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Barcelona have reached an agreement with Flick on every detail of a new contract which will see the German coach remain at Camp Nou until June 2027. With contract drafts already approved by both parties, an announcement is pending and will be made as soon as the formal signature happens sometime this month. The new contract will see Flick earn a one-year extension on his current contract which was set to expire in 2026.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Flick’s extension was always on the cards if one considers the significant impact he has made at Barcelona since taking charge last summer. The 60-year-old coach has managed 53 games for the club so far out of which he has won 40 games (75.4% win rate) with the club currently sitting at the top of the league table. The Catalan giants are also still alive in the Copa del Rey and the Champions League as it seems increasingly likely that they will secure a treble this season.
Flick is hugely popular among the club’s fanbase for his determination and trust in young La Masia talents which makes it even more important for the club to ensure his stay at the club in the long term.
WHAT NEXT FOR FLICK?
The serial winner has a great chance of securing silverware with Barcelona in his very first season as his side face a crucial El Clasico this weekend. With Barcelona sitting at the top of the table, they will face second-placed Los Blancos in a key title decider. While a win for Flick’s side would strengthen their position at the top, a defeat would succumb the top position to their arch rivals.
