Real Madrid Near Signing Dean Huijsen Despite Premier League Interest

Real Madrid are close to signing Spanish defender Dean Huijsen. They have sent a contract proposal for a €58 million (£50 million) deal. Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool are also interested, but the 20-year-old prefers Madrid.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Real Madrid moved quickly by offering Huijsen a formal contract. They are also working on payment terms with Bournemouth. The club is likely to trigger Huijsen’s release clause and may pay in instalments. Although Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal are interested, Huijsen prefers Real Madrid. The defender joined Bournemouth from Juventus last year and has become a key player. He has helped the team record seven clean sheets in 30 league games and push for a European spot.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

If the deal goes through, Huijsen will return to Spain after developing at Malaga’s academy and moving to Juventus. The signing will improve Real Madrid’s defense, strengthening their La Liga-winning squad. For Bournemouth, losing Huijsen will be a setback after a great season. They are in the top half of the league and just four points off a European spot. Juventus and Malaga will also earn from the deal due to sell-on clauses. Juventus will receive €5.8 million, and Malaga €1.8 million.

WHAT COMES NEXT?

Real Madrid aim to finalize personal terms and complete paperwork soon. They are also negotiating with Bournemouth regarding the payment structure. Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool are still monitoring the situation. Bournemouth’s next match is against Tottenham in the Premier League. They are trying to close the gap to seventh place and qualify for Europe. Real Madrid, on the other hand, are preparing for their final La Liga games as champions and building their squad for next season. Huijsen is expected to play a big role in their defense.
