Dean Huijsen Set to Complete Dream Real Madrid Transfer

Dean Huijsen’s agents are in Madrid to finalize his move to Real Madrid. The Spanish club will pay Bournemouth £50 million to release the defender from his contract.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The 20-year-old defender is about to join Real Madrid after the club reached an agreement with Bournemouth. Instead of paying the £50 million release clause in one go, Real Madrid will pay it in three parts. Huijsen‘s agents are now in Madrid to sort out the final details of his new five-year contract.

Real Madrid had previously made a formal contract offer to the player’s representatives to speed up the deal. Huijsen has made it clear that he wants to join Real Madrid despite interest from Premier League clubs like Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Huijsen has had a fantastic season with Bournemouth since joining from Juventus last summer. His performances have helped the Cherries in their push for European qualification. He has kept seven clean sheets in 30 Premier League matches. His impressive displays earned him a call-up to the Spanish national team in March, and he made his debut for his country.

The move to Real Madrid will see Huijsen return to Spanish football after leaving Malaga CF’s academy in 2021. He was born in the Netherlands but decided to represent Spain internationally. Huijsen is now one of the most promising young defenders in the world, with a transfer value of £50 million (approximately $66.3 million).

WHAT’S NEXT FOR HUIJSEN?

Once personal terms are agreed, Huijsen will officially become a Real Madrid player before the 2025/26 season starts. He will face the challenge of breaking into a squad filled with star players as they aim to retain their domestic and European titles. Losing Huijsen will be a huge blow for Bournemouth, but the high transfer fee will help them strengthen their squad this summer.

Huijsen has remained calm amid all the transfer speculation throughout the season. After Bournemouth’s recent 2-1 win over Arsenal, he said: “I think I am pretty relaxed. I am a chill guy. I don’t really think about it much. I go to training in the morning, have a great time, and just enjoy football and myself.” This laid-back attitude will help him as he prepares to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world.
