Real Betis to Sign Natan Permanently After Successful Loan

Real Betis will sign Brazilian defender Natan from Napoli after a successful loan. Betis will activate their €8 million purchase option because he performed well in Seville.

STRONG LOAN SEASON

Natan joined Betis on loan in August 2024 after struggling at Napoli. The 23-year-old Brazilian has become key in Betis’ defense, with 2 goals and 2 assists in 39 games. His performances convinced Betis to make his move permanent rather than send him back to Italy.

Natan moved to Europe when Napoli bought him from RB Bragantino for €10 million in 2023. He was meant to replace Kim Min-jae, who went to Bayern Munich, but Natan struggled in Serie A, playing just 21 times.

THE FINANCIAL DETAILS

The clubs agreed on a loan with a purchase option. Betis paid nearly €1 million for the loan and now will pay €8 million to buy him before June 2025. Napoli will have a minor loss on their original €10 million investment, but can move on from a player who didn’t fit their plans.

Reports say Natan will get a contract until 2029, showing Betis’ long-term faith in him. The transfer is smart for Betis, who could assess him during the loan before paying the full fee.

NEXT STEPS FOR BETIS AND NATAN

Real Betis are 7th in La Liga with three matches to go in 2024/25. They’re fighting for European qualification, two points behind 6th-place Villarreal and four points ahead of 8th-place Athletic Bilbao. Signing Natan permanently shows they want to strengthen the squad for next season.

For Natan, the move is a fresh start after his tough time in Italy. At 23, he’s found stability and regular play time in Spain, aiding his development. His defensive versatility has been valuable, and Betis see him as a defensive cornerstone for years.
