Arsenal Owner Josh Kroenke Promises Summer Investment to Boost Title Hopes

Arsenal co-owner Josh Kroenke has given Arsenal fans hope for next season. The American businessman promised big spending to strengthen the team as the Gunners aim to improve.

KROENKE COMMITS TO SUMMER SPENDING

In a statement on Sunday, Kroenke shared his plans for Arsenal’s future: “We plan to invest to get behind winning and doing better next season. We’re happy to have our sporting director, Andrea, who will play a key role in this.” The Arsenal co-owner stressed that the board is united on their approach to the transfer window, saying they are “clear on exactly what we need to do and how we want to do it. The right way. The Arsenal way.”

TRANSFER TARGETS EMERGE

This promise comes as Arsenal are linked with Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres. The Swedish forward is in great form, scoring 96 goals in 101 appearances for the Portuguese club since his £20 million move from Coventry City in 2023.

Despite Gyokeres’ recent comments avoiding transfer speculation – “It’s football, I’m still here. I don’t know what’s going to happen. Nobody can predict the future” – reports suggest a summer move is likely. Sources say a package worth around €65 million (£54.6m) would be enough to sign him, with talks already happening with many top European clubs.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Arsenal has struggled in their Premier League title challenge this season, with Manchester City once again hard to beat. Pep Guardiola’s recent remarks that “the qualification spots in the Premier League will go down to the last day” show the competitive nature of the league this season.

Kroenke’s statement comes at a key time as Arsenal looks to build on their progress under Mikel Arteta. The Gunners have shown they can compete but need more strength to compete at the highest level. Their new sporting director Andrea Berta, who joined from Atletico Madrid earlier this year, will be central in deciding their recruitment strategy.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR ARSENAL?

With one match left in the Premier League season, Arsenal is already looking towards their summer plans. The club seems focused on boosting their attacking options, with Gyokeres among several possible targets.

Arsenal is currently in second place in the Premier League table, four points behind leaders Manchester City and three points ahead of third-placed Liverpool. Their last match of the season will be crucial in determining their final position and momentum for the transfer window.

Fans will now keenly watch the club’s transfer moves, with Kroenke’s promises lifting hopes of significant reinforcements before another competitive Premier League season in 2025/26.
