Carlo Ancelotti Begins New Era as Brazil National Team Head Coach

Carlo Ancelotti is now officially the head coach of Brazil’s national team. The experienced Italian manager takes over at a key time. Brazil is focusing on qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Ancelotti‘s official start date is May 26, 2025. He joins after finishing his second time at Real Madrid. There, he won three Champions League titles and two La Liga trophies. Ancelotti is Brazil’s first foreign coach. He replaces Dorival Júnior. He will soon announce his first squad. His first matches are June’s World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay.

BRAZIL, ANCELOTTI, AND THE SEASON SO FAR

This season was tough for both Ancelotti and Brazil. Ancelotti’s last season with Madrid had them fall in the Champions League quarterfinals and lose the Copa del Rey final. The Brazil national team is fourth in South America’s World Cup qualifying table with 21 points. This is enough to qualify, but not up to their high standards. They are five points behind third-place Uruguay and just three points ahead of fifth-place Colombia.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR THE SELEÇÃO?

Ancelotti will start immediately. He will announce his first player list soon. Brazil will play Ecuador on June 4 and Paraguay later that month. These games are important for making sure Brazil qualifies for the World Cup. The team will depend on stars like Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, Endrick, and young players to do well under their new coach. Ancelotti’s experience and history of winning trophies bring hope that he can help Brazil succeed internationally before the 2026 World Cup.
