Inter President Praises PSG’s Campos for Smart Transfers

Inter president Giuseppe Marotta praised Paris Saint-Germain’s Luis Campos for his transfer skills. He used the example of Campos signing Bernardo Silva early on to show his talent for spotting potential in players.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Marotta highlighted how Campos signed Bernardo Silva for AS Monaco when Silva was still at Benfica B. The deal, completed in January 2015 for about €15.75 million, was a success. Silva became a top midfielder in Ligue 1 and later played for Monaco and Manchester City. Campos gained a reputation for finding hidden talent and building strong teams, having created successful squads at both Monaco and Lille.

TRANSFER VISION THAT SHAPED CLUBS

Campos’ work at Monaco changed the club’s fortunes. Besides Silva, he signed players like Fabinho, Thomas Lemar, and helped develop Kylian Mbappé. These signings led to on-field success and generated huge profits from later transfers. His knack for identifying talent and predicting market trends became hallmarks of his career. This approach helped Monaco win the 2016–17 Ligue 1 title and reach the Champions League semi-finals.

WHAT NEXT FOR PSG AND CAMPOS?

At PSG, Campos continues his forward-thinking strategy, looking for young or undervalued talent to build future success. PSG, who won the 2024/25 Ligue 1 title, aim to stay on top by relying on Campos’ vision in future transfer windows. Given his track record, PSG will likely remain proactive in the market, seeking the next stars before their value escalates.
