Liverpool Near Signing Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth

Liverpool are getting closer to signing Bournemouth’s left-back Milos Kerkez. The Premier League champions want to finalize the deal this week. Kerkez could be their second big signing of the summer transfer window.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Liverpool have agreed on personal terms with 21-year-old Milos Kerkez. Now, they need to agree on a transfer fee with Bournemouth. Kerkez rejected interest from Manchester City to join Arne Slot’s team at Anfield. Bournemouth want around £45 million for their left-back, who is Slot’s top choice for that position.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Signing Kerkez shows Liverpool’s ambition after winning the Premier League last season. The Hungarian defender was excellent for Bournemouth in their strong 2024-25 season. Liverpool have already signed Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen and are trying to sign Florian Wirtz as part of a rebuild under new manager Arne Slot.

Liverpool won the Premier League title in April, finishing ahead of Manchester City. This signing shows Liverpool’s advantage over their rivals in the transfer market.

WHAT KERKEZ SAID

Asked about transfer rumors, Kerkez said: “Of course, something always leaks into the news. I don’t know how. At the same time, I think it’s normal that if you play well and the team does well, then you get into the news and end up on the front page, and everyone talks about you.” He added the transfer rumors motivate him while he stays grounded.

WHAT NEXT FOR LIVERPOOL?

Liverpool want to complete the Kerkez transfer quickly, as Bayern Munich are interested. The Hungarian would compete with Andy Robertson at left-back, part of a defensive overhaul under Slot. With Frimpong signed and talks ongoing for Wirtz, Liverpool are building a team to defend their Premier League title next season. They play Celtic in their pre-season opener in late July and Face Arsenal in the Community Shield in early August.
