Atletico Madrid in Talks for Johnny Cardoso as Real Betis Demand €40m

Real Betis have told Atletico Madrid they want €40m for Cardoso. Atletico started with a €30m offer plus bonuses. The 23-year-old midfielder wants to move to Madrid, despite interest from other top clubs. Talks have just started, and Atletico are keen on signing the promising midfielder.

Cardoso became a star in La Liga after a great season with Real Betis. He helped the team reach their first major European final, although they lost to Chelsea. His performances earned him a contract extension until 2030 with an €80m release clause. But Betis might sell him for less.

This is bad news for Tottenham Hotspur. They had a deal with Betis for a reduced €25m release clause for Cardoso next summer. However, Cardoso prefers to stay in La Liga, disrupting Spurs’ plans.
