Kylian Mbappé Returns to Real Madrid Training Camp After Hospitalization
Kylian Mbappé left the hospital and rejoined Real Madrid’s training camp. He is recovering from severe gastroenteritis. The French player will get more medical care and will slowly return to team activities in the coming days.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Mbappé went to the hospital because of severe gastroenteritis. He missed Real Madrid‘s Club World Cup match against Al Hilal from Saudi Arabia, where the team drew 1-1. After more tests and treatment, Mbappé left the hospital on Thursday. He is now back with the team, following a special medical plan. He will slowly start football activities again. There’s no date for his full return, and recovery can take over a week.
MBAPPÉ AND MADRID’S SEASON SO FAR
Mbappé has been great for Real Madrid since moving from Paris Saint-Germain. He scored 31 goals in LaLiga in his first season and is key in their attack. Real Madrid are favourites in the Club World Cup, but they drew their first match. They are second in their group, two points behind Red Bull Salzburg, who won 2-1 against Pachuca. This puts extra pressure on Madrid for the next group matches.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR REAL MADRID?
Real Madrid play Pachuca on Sunday in North Carolina, looking for their first Club World Cup win. They are second in Group H, and they need a result to try and finish first. With Mbappé still recovering, Gonzalo García, who scored against Al Hilal, may keep his place in the team. Madrid’s aim is to qualify from the group while keeping an eye on Mbappé’s health and slow return.
