Liverpool Agree £40m Deal to Sign Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth
Liverpool have agreed a deal with Bournemouth to sign left-back Milos Kerkez for £40 million. The Hungarian defender will have a medical soon and then sign a long-term contract with the club.
WHAT HAPPENED?
The 21-year-old Milos Kerkez will be Liverpool’s first big signing this summer. Talks between the clubs have taken months, with Kerkez as Liverpool’s main target for the left-back spot. The fee is £40 million, and Kerkez will sign a five-year deal until 2030. He will travel to Liverpool for his medical. The deal is almost complete.
LIVERPOOL’S NEW LOOK UNDER ARNE SLOT
Kerkez did well at Bournemouth last season, playing 33 Premier League games and known for his strong defense and attacking runs. Liverpool finished third last season, just behind Manchester City and Arsenal. They now have a new head coach, Arne Slot, and have been busy in the transfer market. Kerkez is joining after Florian Wirtz. The club’s new sporting director, Richard Hughes, has been praised for quick and decisive signings.
WHAT NEXT FOR LIVERPOOL AND KERKEZ?
Once the medical is done and the deal announced, Kerkez will join Liverpool’s pre-season training. The club aims to challenge for the Premier League title in 2025/26. Liverpool’s next game is against Arsenal in the Community Shield. Current left-back Andy Robertson has injury issues, so Kerkez might compete for the starting spot soon. Bournemouth finished 12th last season and will use the transfer fee to prepare for their next campaign.
