Barcelona Close to Signing Roony Bardghji from Copenhagen

Barcelona are finalizing a deal to sign Swedish winger Roony Bardghji from FC Copenhagen. The transfer is expected to be completed soon, and the player is set to join the club from July.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Negotiations between Barcelona and FC Copenhagen are in the final stages for the transfer of 19-year-old Roony Bardghji. The talented winger’s contract at Copenhagen ends in December 2025, and he has informed the club that he will not extend his deal. This allows Barcelona, who are closely monitoring Bardghji, to progress quickly and agree on a cut-price fee. The player has long been a fan of Barcelona and is expected to provide competition on the right wing next season, especially under head coach Hansi Flick.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Bardghji has been one of Copenhagen’s standout young players, attracting interest from top European clubs after impressive performances in the Champions League, including a memorable winner against Manchester United in 2023. Despite suffering a serious ACL injury last year, he has returned to action and remains one of Europe’s brightest prospects. Barcelona’s interest comes as the club searches for affordable, high-potential signings due to ongoing financial restrictions. With a potential price tag between €2 million and €3 million, Bardghji represents a low-risk, high-reward option for Barcelona.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR BARCELONA AND BARDGHJI?

The move is set to be finalized soon, and Bardghji could join Barcelona in July, just in time for preseason preparations. Barcelona won in La Liga last season, as well as the Spanish Supercopa, Copa del Rey and a semi-final in the Champions League. Bardghji is expected to compete with Lamine Yamal and potentially Nico Williams for a spot on the wing and will provide squad depth after Ansu Fati’s transfer to Monaco. Copenhagen, meanwhile, must adjust to life without their young star as they prepare for the new Danish Superliga season and Champions League qualifiers. Barcelona’s first match of the new La Liga season will allow fans to see whether their new Swedish signing can make an immediate impact.
