Nicola Zalewski Joins Inter Milan on Permanent Transfer From AS Roma
Nicola Zalewski has completed a permanent move to Inter Milan after his loan deal from AS Roma. The midfielder has cost the Nerazzurri €6 million as the Polish star is ready to begin a new chapter in his career.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Zalewski had joined Inter on loan during the January window after Tajon Buchanan left the club. He played 17 matches in all competitions and contributed with an assist in the Milan derby as well as a goal in their 2-0 win over Torino.
The Polish star is a versatile midfielder who can also deputise as a wingback in a simulated fashion. Cristian Chivu has already said that he will rely on Zalewski to play in a variety of roles in the upcoming season as they play in several competitions including the FIFA Club World Cup.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Zalewski’s signing adds depth to an Inter side that was already brimming with quality, versatility and talent going forward. Last season, the Nerazzurri finished as runners-up in Serie A and the Champions League, which was a remarkable achievement. Although they could not get their hands on a trophy, they are perfectly poised to once again challenge for all their objectives.
According to a previous report we published, Inter have set a €35-40m asking price for Hakan Calhanoglu, amid transfer interest from Galatasaray and Aston Villa and will also take part in the Club World Cup which will be hosted in the USA. If the player leaves, they will need to get reinforcements as the Turkish international is essential for the team.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR ZALEWSKI?
The midfielder has won a place in the Inter squad and will continue to feature regularly in the starting XI of Chivu’s side as the romanian coach starts his job at Inter following Inzaghi’s departure to coach Al Hilal from Saudi Arabia. He will be hoping to repay the club’s faith in his talent with some solid performances and help his team to land silverware at the end of the 2025-26 season.
