Arsenal in Advanced Talks to Sign Valencia Defender Cristhian Mosquera

Arsenal are negotiating to sign Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia. They want to improve their defense before the new season.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The 20-year-old centre-back is a main target for Arsenal this summer. Valencia are asking for €20 million (£17 million) for Mosquera. He has played 37 times for Valencia and is a Spanish Under-21 international. Arsenal see him as a long-term investment for their defense.

ARSENAL’S PLANS AND MOSQUERA’S PROFILE

Arsenal finished second in the Premier League and have qualified for the Champions League. Improving their defense is key as they plan for a busy season. Mosquera wants to play at a higher level, and Arsenal’s status and finances make them favorites to sign him. He is keen to join a team where he can develop as Valencia look to make money from his sale.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR CLUB AND PLAYER?

Discussions are getting serious, and Arsenal want to sign Mosquera before pre-season. Valencia, who finished ninth in La Liga, might need to sell Mosquera to fund new signings. Arsenal are preparing for their Premier League opener against Ipswich and Champions League group stage matches, where they hope Mosquera can help them surpass Manchester City and challenge Liverpool.
