Paul Pogba and Ansu Fati Arrive in Monaco to Seal Moves to AS Monaco
Paul Pogba has arrived in Monaco for medical checks and to sign a contract until June 2027. Ansu Fati will also complete his move to Monaco as the club look to strengthen their squad in preparation for the upcoming season. They finished third in Ligue 1 last season, and by strengthening their squad, they seek to challenge both PSG and Lens in the hope of winning the league title. Currently in pre-season, Monaco will play their first official game in the second week of August in the Champions League qualifying round.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Pogba, 32, reached an agreement with Monaco after becoming a free agent following his release from Juventus in November 2024. He accepted a notable pay cut to join the Ligue 1 side, despite offers from the Middle East and MLS. Pogba’s last appearance came in September 2023 for Juventus before an 18-month suspension for a doping violation. His 24-month suspension has been reduced, making him eligible to return in March 2025. Meanwhile, 22-year-old Ansu Fati, another exciting addition, also arrived in Monaco to complete his move.
AS MONACO’S AMBITIONS
AS Monaco finished third in Ligue 1 last season and secured qualification for the Champions League. They have been active in the transfer market this summer, with Pogba urging his international teammates to join his new club. The French midfielder has made 91 appearances for the World Cup winners and has a great international record. Fati, meanwhile, has played 20 times for the Spanish national team and offers a fresh attacking dimension to their play.
WHAT COMES NEXT?
Both Pogba and Fati will undergo their medical examinations before completing their moves to Monaco. After they sign contracts with the club, they will undergo pre-season training, taking part in friendlies before debuting in either Ligue 1 or the Champions League qualifying stages.
