AC Milan Nears Samuele Ricci Signing as Talks Enter Final Stages
AC Milan is close to finalizing the arrival of Samuele Ricci from Torino. The deal is now in its last stages, with medical tests possibly scheduled within days.
WHAT HAPPENED?
The Rossoneri have worked swiftly to secure an agreement for Italian midfielder Samuele Ricci, reaching personal terms with the player earlier this week.
Milan succeeded in negotiating the transfer value down from Torino’s initial €33 million demand, agreeing to a fee of €25 million including add-ons—a significant discount by Serie A standards.
Ricci, who played 36 matches last season with one goal and two assists, is expected to strengthen Milan’s midfield ahead of the coming campaign. Alongside the Ricci deal, Milan and Torino are also discussing the possible transfer of young striker Lorenzo Colombo in a separate negotiation.
MILAN’S SUMMER MOVES AND SQUAD AMBITIONS
Milan’s pursuit of Ricci comes as part of a larger midfield rebuild. Club management aims to add two new central midfielders, with Ricci as a key piece and ongoing interest in other talents like Ardon Jashari and Granit Xhaka. The club will also welcome Luka Modric, set to join on a free transfer after leaving Real Madrid.
Last season, Milan finished eighth in Serie A, failing to qualify for European football this season. Strengthening the squad is seen as essential for closing the gap. Torino, Ricci’s current club, ended last season in tenth place and faces the challenge of replacing a crucial player in their midfield.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR MILAN AND RICCI?
Ricci could undergo his medical in the next few days, with the official transfer likely to follow swiftly. Milan opens their 2025-26 Serie A campaign in the middle of August, as they aim to get back to the leading spots of the Serie A.
All eyes will be on how quickly Ricci adapts to his new club, and whether Milan’s midfield reinforcements can help them challenge closer to the top of the table. Further announcements regarding Colombo’s future and additional signings are also expected before preseason begins.
According to a previous report we published, AC Milan are considering player swaps to meet the valuation for Samuele Ricci.
