Timothy Weah Rejects Nottingham Forest Move, Juve Deal Nears Collapse

Timothy Weah has turned down a transfer to Nottingham Forest, ending hopes of a move for the Juventus winger. The deal is likely to collapse as the US international rejected the Premier League side’s offer.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Nottingham Forest made a formal bid for Timothy Weah during the transfer window. Talks between Forest and Juventus advanced, but Weah told Juventus he won’t accept the offer. His stance has halted negotiations, and Forest has been asked to look for other players.

Weah’s teammate Samuel Mbangula was part of a potential deal, but both have stalled or rejected the move. Juventus has left both wingers out of a team for a Club World Cup match against Manchester City. They may not stay at the club for next season.

IMPACT ON JUVENTUS AND FOREST

Weah scored six goals and made five assists in 43 games for Juventus in 2024-25. Juventus aimed to sell him for €15m as part of a €22m package with Mbangula. Missing out on Weah alters Nottingham Forest’s strategy.

The qualified for the Conference League with their finish in the Premier League, and will have a more demanding schedule for next season, and is looking at new targets to strengthen the squad.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR BOTH CLUBS?

With Weah’s deal off, Nottingham Forest is looking for other wingers, having already inquired about an ex-Arsenal player. Their first game is against Brentford, who are also undergoing a squad overhaul. Both teams aim for a better start to the Premier League season starting in August.

Juventus is focusing on their Club World Cup matches and may try to sell Weah elsewhere if he’s not in their plans. As the transfer window remains open, both clubs will need to adjust their strategies accordingly.
