Bayern Munich Remain Patient in Pursuit of Stuttgart Star Nick Woltemade
Bayern Munich are not rushing to sign VfB Stuttgart forward Nick Woltemade. Club president Uli Hoeneß is confident the player would be a good fit at the club. If not this summer, perhaps the next.
WHAT HOENESS SAID ABOUT WOLTEMADE
Uli Hoeneß outlined Bayern Munich’s approach to signing Nick Woltemade. He highlighted that the club still has time in the transfer window. He described Woltemade as “a very, very good player who would fit in perfectly with us.” He made it clear he would be pleased if the transfer happened this year, but he is prepared to wait until next year if necessary.
WOLTEMADE’S RISE AND THE TRANSFER SITUATION
Nick Woltemade, 23, enjoyed a breakout 2024/25 campaign after joining Stuttgart from Werder Bremen. He scored 17 goals and provided three assists in 33 matches in the Bundesliga, and he netted five goals in the DFB Cup—including one in the final as Stuttgart won the trophy. He also broke into the Germany national team and shined at the U21 European Championship, finishing as top scorer. This form turned heads at Bayern, who have already agreed personal terms with him on a five-year deal until June 2030, and are offering a significant salary increase. However, Stuttgart have raised Woltemade’s asking price to €100 million, while Bayern are only willing to pay up to €50 million. Negotiations have not yet reached a breakthrough, making a summer transfer uncertain.
According to a previous report, Woltemade scored 5 goals in the DFB Pokal, including one in the final, and his cost has been raised to €100 million.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR BAYERN, STUTTGART, AND WOLTEMADE?
Bayern Munich finished the season as Bundesliga champions and recently advanced in the FIFA Club World Cup, beating Flamengo 4-2 to reach the quarter-finals. This demonstrated squad depth but with room to strengthen in attack. Stuttgart ended their 2024/25 season on a high, winning the DFB Pokal and qualifying for the Champions League, with Woltemade as their star. Both clubs are preparing for new campaigns: Bayern will open their Bundesliga title defense shortly, while Stuttgart aim to build on their cup success. If no deal is struck by the end of August, Bayern may revisit their interest in Woltemade in 2026. For now, attention turns to pre-season preparations and the upcoming Bundesliga opening weekend, where Bayern and Stuttgart will both be eager to start strong.
