Jens Cajuste Set to Join Besiktas on Loan from Napoli

Besiktas will sign Swedish midfielder Jens Cajuste from Napoli on loan. The deal could become permanent and is meant to strengthen Besiktas’ midfield for the coming season.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Besiktas and Napoli have settled all details for Jens Cajuste’s loan to the Turkish club for €1 million. The deal has a buy clause of €6.5 million, which will be triggered under certain conditions. Cajuste has been authorized to travel for his medical and complete the transfer. He was recently on loan at Ipswich Town in the Premier League, playing 33 matches and scoring 1 goal and providing 1 assist, but couldn’t stop them from being relegated. Several clubs were interested in the Napoli player, including Crystal Palace, Burnley, Sevilla, and Aston Villa, but Besiktas moved fast to secure his deal.

A previous report confirmed that Besiktas have made an offer to Napoli for Jens Cajuste: a €1 million loan fee with an option to buy for €6.5 million.

BESIKTAS’ SEASON AND THE NEED FOR REINFORCEMENT

Besiktas ended the 2024/25 Süper Lig season in fourth place, qualifying for Europe but far from the desired Champions League spots. With 16 wins, 8 draws, and 10 losses, their midfielders had inconsistent performances, showing the need for reliable reinforcements. Cajuste is expected to fill this gap, offering physicality and energy to their squad. Napoli, on the other hand, won Serie A for the 2024-25 season and are reshaping their squad this summer. Cajuste found it hard to establish himself at Napoli, as they are willing to let him depart since he does not feature in their future plans.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR CAJUSTE AND BESIKTAS?

Cajuste will get his medical in Istanbul and is expected to join Besiktas for pre-season training. The club is preparing for their first competitive match of the new season, hosting newly-promoted Kocaelispor, who finished second in the TFF First League last season. For Cajuste, this move represents a chance to become a regular first-team choice at a major club and revive his ambitions, both at club and international level.

A previous report stated that Besiktas is preparing for a Europa League qualifier and aims to strengthen their squad.
