Arsenal Close In on Noni Madueke as Chelsea Await Official Bid

Arsenal are close to signing Noni Madueke from Chelsea after agreeing personal terms with the player. The clubs will soon begin talks to decide a transfer fee, likely about £50 million.

A previous report stated that Arsenal is close to signing Madueke, who has agreed personal terms with the club.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Madueke, 23, joined Chelsea from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023. He scored seven goals and provided six assists in 31 league appearances last season. While he has not asked for a transfer, Madueke is open to joining Arsenal, where contract talks are advanced.

A previous report confirmed that Madueke scored seven goals and provided six assists in 31 league appearances for Chelsea last season.

Chelsea, having signed Jamie Bynoe-Gittens for up to £52 million, are ready to sell Madueke. However, a final deal between the clubs is not yet reached, with Chelsea expecting a bid from Arsenal soon. Manager Enzo Maresca has said he wants players committed to staying, so Madueke will likely leave if terms are agreed.

A previous report indicated that Chelsea signed Jamie Bynoe-Gittens in a deal that could reach £52 million.

TRANSFER CHAIN REACTION

This move happens as Chelsea have added several new forwards, including Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens, and João Pedro. Chelsea aim to have up to nine attackers but must balance the numbers with departures.

A previous report mentioned that Chelsea signed Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens, and Joao Pedro for up to £60 million this summer.

Arsenal’s interest in Madueke is separate from Chelsea’s pursuit of Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri. Chelsea will only try to sign Nwaneri if he does not extend his Arsenal contract, and no talks are ongoing for him yet.

LOOKING AHEAD

Chelsea recently reached the Club World Cup semi-finals and will face Fluminense for a place in the final. Arsenal, this season’s Premier League runner-up, want to strengthen their attack before the beginning of their Premier League campaign against Manchester United.

A previous report confirmed that Arsenal finished second in the Premier League during the 2024-25 season.

Madueke could offer Arsenal another wide option; while Chelsea plans significant changes before the transfer window closes, all eyes will be on Arsenal’s next bid and whether the clubs can agree on a deal in time for the new season.
