Spartak Moscow Say No to Feyenoord’s €15m Bid for Manfred Ugalde
Spartak Moscow have rejected Feyenoord’s offer for striker Manfred Ugalde. The Dutch club bid €15 million, but Spartak want better terms. Ugalde’s side wants a move back to Western Europe, so more talks will happen soon.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Feyenoord tried to sign Manfred Ugalde, who is under contract with Spartak Moscow until 2028. Their €15 million bid was turned down. Spartak bought him from FC Twente for €13 million one and a half years ago. Ugalde is scoring well now, finishing last season with 19 goals and 6 assists. Although the bid was rejected, Ugalde and his team still want the move. Personal terms seem fine, and other clubs are interested too, making the deal talks intense.
According to a previous report, Feyenoord won two trophies last season, indicating their strength and ambition in the transfer market.
UGALDE’S RECENT FORM AND WHY FEYENOORD WANT HIM
Ugalde wasn’t great at first at Spartak but became a key player last season. Before Russia, he played for FC Twente in the Netherlands, scoring 22 goals in 84 games. He also played for Costa Rica in the Gold Cup, scoring three goals. Feyenoord, second in the Eredivisie last season, want to strengthen their squad after losing out to PSV. They see Ugalde’s history in the Eredivisie and his current form as a good fit.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR THE TRANSFER AND BOTH CLUBS?
Talks will continue in the next 48 hours. Feyenoord hope to find agreement with Spartak Moscow, maybe by raising their bid. They want to sign Ugalde before the Eredivisie starts. They play FC Utrecht first. Last season, Feyenoord finished second, with Ajax third. They aim to close the gap. Spartak were fourth in Russia, missing out on the Champions League. Their first game is against Krylia Sovetov. The focus is on Ugalde’s future, which should be settled soon.
