Palmeiras Agree Deal With Nottingham Forest For Ramón Sosa Signing

Palmeiras have agreed to sign Paraguayan winger Ramón Sosa from Nottingham Forest for $14 million. Only a few formalities remain before the move is official.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Palmeiras and Nottingham Forest have agreed on a $14 million deal for Ramón Sosa. Sosa, 25, has played 23 matches for Forest since joining from Talleres Córdoba in August 2024. He scored three goals and recorded one assist in the Premier League. Despite his talent, he struggled to get a regular starting spot in England. Palmeiras prioritized Sosa after Estevão left for Chelsea and Paulinho got injured, making him a key target ahead of the mid-season transfer window opening on July 10.

Nottingham Forest finished seventh in the Premier League last season, and Sosa’s move comes as part of a strategy to reshape the squad following their UEFA Conference League qualification.

A previous report confirmed that Nottingham Forest finished seventh in the Premier League last season.

WHY DOES THIS TRANSFER MATTER?

Sosa is seen as a big addition for Palmeiras, who want to stay competitive in both the Brazilian Serie A and continental tournaments after losing key attacking players. He is known for his speed, technical skills, and ability to play in different attacking positions. Sosa will join fellow Paraguayan international Gustavo Gómez, likely helping him settle quickly. For Nottingham Forest, the transfer fee will give them money to reshape their squad, especially after missing out on Juventus winger Timothy Weah.

WHAT COMES NEXT FOR PALMEIRAS AND FOREST?

Palmeiras are focused on catching up to the top of the Brazilian table. They are third, four points behind leaders Flamengo. Their next match is against Santos, who are in sixth place and looking to enter the top four. Palmeiras hope Sosa will be registered and available soon to help their attack. Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, will look to reinvest in their squad ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season. They are targeting new attacking talent to replace Sosa.

Palmeiras have played Chelsea in the Club World Cup quarter-finals, and have lost 2-1 against the Blues, showing their quality even against richer, European opponents.
