Gabriel Heinze Joins Arsenal as Assistant Coach

Arsenal have hired Gabriel Heinze as their new assistant coach. The former Argentina and Manchester United player joins Mikel Arteta’s coaching staff. He will help guide the team for the upcoming Premier League season.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Arsenal announced that Gabriel Heinze will take over from Carlos Cuesta, who left last month to become Parma’s head coach. Heinze, 47, last managed Newell’s Old Boys in November 2023

According to a previous report, Heinze is set to join Arsenal before the 2025-26 Premier League season.

He also managed several other clubs, including Atlanta United in Major League Soccer.

As a player, Heinze spent three years at Manchester United and won the Premier League in the 2006-07 season. He also played for top clubs like Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain. Heinze earned 72 caps for Argentina and played in two FIFA World Cups.

WHY THIS MATTERS FOR ARSENAL

Heinze’s appointment comes as Arsenal look to build on their strong 2024-25 season. Arsenal finished second in the Premier League during the 2024-25 season with 70 points

A previous report confirmed that Arsenal finished second, just four points behind Manchester City, and reached the Champions League quarterfinals.

Arteta’s team was praised for their attacking style and solid defense, led by stars like Bukayo Saka and William Saliba.

With Heinze’s international experience, Arsenal hope to fix issues that saw them concede late goals last season.

LOOKING AHEAD TO THE NEW SEASON

Arsenal’s pre-season preparations are already underway. Their first competitive game of the 2025-26 season will be in the Premier League opener against Manchester United.

Arsenal are getting ready for the UEFA Champions League and will start pre-season matches this month, according to a previous report.

Arsenal aim to close the gap on Liverpool, who won the league with considerable distance.

According to a previous report, Arsenal’s first Premier League game is against Manchester United.

With rivals Chelsea and Liverpool also getting stronger, Arsenal will need Heinze’s experience as they chase their first league title since 2004.
