Arsenal Launch £50m Bid for Chelsea’s Noni Madueke

Arsenal have made a £50 million bid to sign Noni Madueke from Chelsea. The winger has agreed personal terms with the Gunners, but talks continue over finalising a fee between the rival clubs.

According to a previous report, Noni Madueke has agreed to join Arsenal on a five-year contract until June 2030.

WHAT HAPPENED?

After weeks of discussions through intermediaries, Arsenal submitted an initial offer of up to £50 million including add-ons. However, Chelsea want over £50 million guaranteed for Madueke, citing Newcastle’s £55 million signing of Anthony Elanga as a benchmark for the winger’s value. A final agreement is yet to be reached, but talks have moved forward.

It has been reported that Chelsea values Noni Madueke higher and want Arsenal to meet their price.

WHY ARSENAL WANT MADUEKE

Madueke is wanted by the Gunners after an impressive 2024-25 campaign for Chelsea. The winger made 31 league appearances last season, scoring seven goals and providing six assists for Chelsea. While used largely from the bench, he chipped in with goals and assists, although he did not register any goals or assists in his seven starts on the left. Arsenal are looking for depth in wide areas, having pushed Man City all the way in the Premier League title race last season, relegating Pep Guardiola’s team to third before eventually finishing second only behind Liverpool.

Arsenal finished second in the Premier League during the 2024-25 season with 70 points, according to a previous report.

The Gunners have booked a return to the Champions League and are keen to bolster their squad for another title tilt.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR BOTH CLUBS?

Discussions over Madueke are set to continue in the coming days. While Arsenal are keen to complete the signing, Chelsea’s valuation could prove to be a stumbling block. Nevertheless, the two clubs have a solid working relationship and that is expected to help matters. The Gunners continue to work on other attacking options, with Eberechi Eze and Morgan Rogers on their radar, as they look to make progress on transfer business ahead of the new season.
