Edin Dzeko Unveiled as Fiorentina’s New Striker after Fenerbahçe Exit

Fiorentina have announced the signing of Edin Dzeko on a free transfer. The Bosnian striker returns to Serie A after a successful time at Fenerbahçe.

FIORENTINA WELCOME DZEKO

Dzeko, 39, has joined Fiorentina with a one-year contract, including an option for a second year. This deal could keep him at the club until 2027 based on performance.

He arrives from Fenerbahçe, where his contract ended after a season with 10 league goals and eight assists in all competitions. This is Dzeko’s third time in Italy’s Serie A, having played for Roma and Inter Milan. During those spells, he scored 107 Serie A goals and registered 50 assists.

THE IMPACT ON FIORENTINA

Dzeko brings firepower and experience to a Fiorentina team eager to build on last season’s progress. Last season, Fiorentina finished sixth in Serie A, qualifying for the Conference League.

The club sometimes struggled to score goals, making Dzeko’s track record very valuable. His vast experience is expected to help young talents and push Fiorentina close to the top four. The Viola start their 2025/26 campaign in Serie A, aiming for a return to European competitions.

Their first match is set for next weekend against Cagliari, who seek a strong start to the campaign.

DZEKO’S LEGACY AND WHAT COMES NEXT

Dzeko brings not only goals but also leadership to a relatively young Fiorentina squad. He scored 25 goals with ten assists in his first season at Fenerbahçe and continues defying age with strong performances.

Only a few outfield players in Serie A have played at his age, showing his remarkable fitness and professionalism. With Fiorentina targeting a higher finish this season, all eyes will be on Dzeko’s debut. Fans hope he can inspire a strong start and bring European nights back to Florence.
