Archie Brown Chooses Milan as Fenerbahçe and Italian Giants Agree Deal with Gent
Archie Brown is expected to join AC Milan after the club and Fenerbahçe both reached a €7 million agreement with Gent over his signature.
According to a previous report, Gent asks for around €7 million for Archie Brown.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Sky Sport Italia reports that the two clubs have both put the money on the table for the defender, but Milan appear to have won the race for his signature after he decided making the Serie A side his first choice. Brown has reportedly struck a deal with the Rossoneri over a contract until 2028. The 24-year-old will make the step up after an impressive spell with Gent, where he made 46 appearances last season, contributing three goals and six assists.
A previous report confirmed that Archie Brown made 46 appearances for Gent last season, contributing three goals and six assists.
WHY DOES MILAN WANT BROWN?
Brown’s impending arrival at Milan comes after the club sold first-choice left-back Theo Hernandez to Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal. The England international is heading to San Siro to replace the Frenchman and is operating under big pressure, but he is excited by the challenge. Brown recently discussed the prospect of a big transfer in an interview with The Independent, saying: “I am ready for the next step, whether that is England or elsewhere. Milan or Al Ittihad or wherever, it is all exciting. But I don’t listen too much to the noise, it is important to prove myself. A lot of clubs wonder if you can replicate what you do at one club to another. It will be nice to get that chance somewhere and hopefully prove them right.”
A previous report outlined that Theo Hernández leaves AC Milan after six years.
WHAT NEXT FOR BROWN?
Brown will have to undergo tests at Milan before his move goes through, but it appears to be a mere formality. Allegri’s team are ready to get the deal sealed so he can link up with the squad before the start of the Serie A season.
