Galatasaray And Napoli Intensify Talks To Finalize Victor Osimhen Transfer
Galatasaray and Napoli are talking again to work out the final details of Victor Osimhen’s transfer. They are discussing how the €75 million deal will be paid and guaranteed by banks.
According to a previous report, Galatasaray is pushing hard to sign Victor Osimhen with a €75 million offer.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Galatasaray and Napoli have had several discussions about Osimhen. He played on loan for Galatasaray last season. Both clubs have agreed on a fee of €75 million for the Nigerian striker. Galatasaray plans to pay €40 million right away. The remaining €35 million will be paid in installments over up to three years.
As reported, Galatasaray offered €40 million now and €35 million later for Victor Osimhen.
Talks have slowed down at times because Napoli wants strong financial guarantees. Galatasaray’s bank guarantees are being reviewed by Napoli. They want to make sure all payments will be made on time. If everything is approved, Osimhen will travel to Istanbul for a medical and to sign a contract.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
This transfer would be one of the most expensive in Turkish football history. Osimhen scored 37 goals and provided 8 assists for Galatasaray during his loan season. He helped the club win both the Süper Lig and Turkish Cup last season.
According to a previous report, Galatasaray won the Turkish Super Lig title last season.
His arrival is important for Galatasaray’s goals in Europe. Napoli is looking to rebuild after winning the Serie A last season but this season will also try to make a deep run in Europe. They missed out on the Champions League and as such could focus all of their attention in the League matches. Napoli hopes to use the money from Osimhen’s sale to strengthen their team this summer.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR BOTH CLUBS?
The transfer must be completed soon, as Osimhen’s €75 million release clause expires on Tuesday. If not, Napoli could ask for more money. Galatasaray starts their Süper Lig title defense next week, while Napoli resumes their Serie A campaign in August. Galatasaray’s first game is against Gaziantep FK, a team that barely avoided relegation last season. Napoli will play Sassuolo, who got promoted from the Serie B. Both teams want to finalize their squads before the new season starts.
Reports indicate that Galatasaray hopes Osimhen will be available for their important Champions League qualifiers in early August.
