Wolves Agree Deal to Sign Jhon Arias from Fluminense
Wolverhampton Wanderers have reached an agreement with Fluminense to sign Colombian winger Jhon Arias for a fee close to €20 million. Arias has accepted the move and will soon travel to England to finalize his transfer.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Wolves have been in advanced talks with Fluminense over the past week and have now agreed on a package worth around €20 million for Jhon Arias. The Colombian winger, who recently signed a contract extension with Fluminense until 2028, has attracted interest from several European clubs following strong performances, including at the FIFA Club World Cup. Despite Fluminense’s reluctance to sell, Arias’ desire to play in the Premier League proved decisive. Wolves have now secured his signature and are sorting travel arrangements for his arrival in England.

WHY ARIAS AND WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR WOLVES?
Arias, 27, has impressed with his pace, creativity, and experience, scoring 7 goals and contributing 9 assists in 32 games for Fluminense so far in 2025. Wolves finished the 2024/25 Premier League season in 16th place, just five points above Tottenham, the last team above the relegation zone. The club struggled for goals and creativity on the wings, making Arias’ signing an important boost as they aim for improvement this year. Fluminense, meanwhile, will lose their highest-paid player, who has been key under manager Fernando Diniz but had made clear his ambition to play in Europe.
According to a previous report, Wolves finished the 2024-25 Premier League season in 16th place.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR WOLVES AND ARIAS?
Jhon Arias is expected to undergo a medical and sign a long-term contract before pre-season friendlies begin. Wolves’ first Premier League match of the 2025/26 campaign is against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. City has been getting players in key areas as they try to make a run for the title, after failing to win any trophy last season. Wolves will hope Arias can quickly adapt and provide the attacking spark needed to push them up the table and away from another relegation battle.
