According to a previous report, Valentin Carboni will join Genoa on loan until June 2026 from Inter Milan and is expected to return to Inter next summer.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Carboni, 20, joined Genoa after returning to Inter from a loan spell at Marseille. Genoa won’t have the option to buy him. Inter could earn up to €1 million in bonuses based on his appearances for Genoa. Carboni, who recovered from a serious ACL injury in late 2024, made a notable comeback by scoring a late winner for Inter against Urawa Red Diamonds during the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
As reported earlier, Valentin Carboni featured for Inter in the 2025 Club World Cup where he scored a late winner against Urawa Red Diamonds.
GENOA AND CARBONI: A FRESH START
Under coach Patrick Vieira, Genoa aims to improve their mid-table Serie A performance for the 2025/26 season after a bottom-half finish last campaign. Vieira values Carboni’s creativity and plans to provide him with consistent playing time. Carboni, seeking to push forward after his recovery, possesses technical ability and playmaking skills that should enhance Genoa’s attacking options. Last season, his progress was stalled by injury while he split time between Marseille and Inter.
Genoa narrowly avoided relegation from Serie A last season, finishing 13th in the standings.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR BOTH CLUBS?
Genoa begins their Serie A season next week against Lecce, a team that finished behind them last year. Both sides aim to move away from the relegation zone this season. Inter, meanwhile, will closely monitor Carboni’s development as they aim for another title push as defending Serie A champions. Inter faces Torino in their next league match, while Genoa’s immediate task is to integrate Carboni and strengthen their squad before the new campaign begins.
Inter Milan finished second in the 2024/25 Serie A season, confirming their position as strong competitors in the league.
