Liverpool Reject Big-Money Bayern Bid for Luis Diaz
Liverpool turned down a €67.5 million bid from Bayern Munich for winger Luis Diaz. Both Bayern and Barcelona are interested in Diaz, who has emerged as a serious alternative for Barcelona if they fail to sign Marcus Rashford
According to a previous report, Luis Diaz has emerged as a serious alternative for Barcelona if they fail to sign Marcus Rashford.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Bayern Munich’s €67.5 million bid for Luis Diaz was rejected by Liverpool, who made it clear they are not willing to sell the Colombian player before the end of the summer transfer window. While Diaz has attracted interest from Bayern and Barcelona, sources have confirmed he is open to the idea of leaving, further testing Liverpool’s resolve to hold on to him during this window.
A previous report indicated that Liverpool are the club Barcelona are negotiating with for Luis Diaz.
DIAZ TO STAY AT LIVERPOOL?
Liverpool remain firm that Diaz is not for sale despite a keen interest in the Colombian forward. The 26-year-old signed a new contract with Liverpool in July, and Arne Slot had previously dismissed suggestions of any interest in selling him, back in April.
However, despite Liverpool’s stance, Diaz had earlier informed the club he wished to depart in search of a new challenge, having already spent three years at Anfield. It was during this time that he became a key player for Liverpool. Last season, he scored 35 goals across all competitions, supported by eight assists from 64 appearances.
It should be noted that Liverpool finished last season as Premier League champions according to a report.
WHAT WILL LIVERPOOL DO NEXT?
Although Diaz is open to leaving, he remains an integral part of Slot’s plans. Talks are ongoing with all parties involved to reach a resolution, but as of now, he will continue to be a Liverpool player and is expected to play in Liverpool’s Community Shield clash against Crystal Palace who ended up winning the FA Cup.
On the other hand, signing Diaz is a priority for both Bayern and Barcelona, who would need to make another significant offer for Liverpool to even consider negotiating for him. Given Liverpool’s stance, that possibility seems increasingly unlikely in the coming days.
