AC Milan Face Standoff in Ardon Jashari Transfer Talks
AC Milan are in tough talks with Club Brugge over Swiss midfielder Ardon Jashari. Club president Scaroni says they do not want to pay too much, even though Jashari really wants to join the Rossoneri.
WHAT HAPPENED?
AC Milan‘s latest offer for Jashari, thought to be €33.5 million plus bonuses, was turned down by Club Brugge. The offer could have reached nearly €38 million, but Brugge want at least €35 million guaranteed, with a total deal possibly going to €40 million. Reports confirm that Club Brugge is holding out for a deal closer to €40 million for Jashari.
Jashari, 22, wants to move to San Siro and has made joining Milan his main goal. As per reports, he has already rejected offers from Borussia Dortmund and other clubs and has refused to play in recent games while talks go on.
TRANSFER TALKS AND TEAM CONTEXT
Milan’s interest in Jashari comes at an important time for the club. After finishing eighth in Serie A last season and missing out on European competition, AC Milan has started rebuilding under new coach Massimiliano Allegri. The club made it to the Champions League group stage but couldn’t compete for the title.
The team wants to rebuild their midfield, especially with some players expected to leave, like Emerson Royal and Ismael Bennacer. Recently, AC Milan agreed to sell Emerson Royal to Flamengo for €9 million.
For Brugge, Jashari was a key player last season in Belgium, playing over 52 matches and adding four goals and six assists in all competitions. Brugge finished second in the Belgian Pro League and qualified for the Champions League qualifiers, making Jashari’s exit big for their next campaign.
WHAT COMES NEXT?
With Milan calling their latest offer final, the club is ready to leave if Brugge don’t compromise. Both clubs are feeling the heat, as Milan want to finish transfers before their Serie A opener against Fiorentina, who ended up fifth last season.
Brugge, on the other hand, face Genk—now third in Belgium—in a key early league match. If Jashari’s move doesn’t happen, Milan are looking at other midfield options, but his clear wish to join could still push talks forward before the season begins.
