AC Milan Make Official Approach To Bring Allegri Back

AC Milan have officially offered Massimiliano Allegri the role of head coach. He is now considering returning to San Siro.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The Rossoneri have made a formal offer to Allegri, who led them to the Serie A title in 2010/11. Milan want to replace Sergio Conceicao after finishing 8th in Serie A and losing the Coppa Italia final. New sporting director Igli Tare is focusing on finding a new manager. Reports say the club offered Allegri a three-year contract worth €3.5 million per year.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Milan’s interest comes as the club faces a tough time. They will miss the Champions League next season after their worst league finish in years. Allegri reportedly wants a higher salary of €5 million per year plus bonuses to take on the job. Napoli are also interested in Allegri and may offer a two-year deal at €6 million per year. However, that might change as their coach, Antonio Conte, just won the Scudetto and could stay.

ALLEGRI’S MILAN HISTORY

Allegri returning to Milan would be special since he led them to their last Serie A title in 2010/11. He was at the club from 2010 to 2014. Allegri knows the club and has experience in Italian football, making him an appealing choice. However, some fans worry about his tactics after his second stint at Juventus, which ended with mixed reviews despite many trophies.

WHAT NEXT FOR MILAN?

Milan might choose a new manager by Friday, as they plan for the 2025/26 season. They are 32 points behind champions Napoli and 12 points away from 4th-placed Juventus. The new manager will need to bridge this gap. Their first competitive game will be in the Serie A opener in August. The new manager will have a full pre-season to implement his ideas. Returning to European competition will be their top priority, targeting a top-six finish next season.
