AC Milan Set to Sign Adrien Rabiot from Marseille in €10m Move
AC Milan are close to signing French midfielder Adrien Rabiot from Marseille. They have made an offer of around €10 million, including bonuses. Talks are moving fast, and both teams want to complete the deal quickly. As per a recent report, Marseille are willing to sell Rabiot for about €15 million, which suggests that negotiations may still be ongoing (source).
WHAT HAPPENED?
Marseille have agreed to sell Rabiot to AC Milan for about €10 million, with add-ons included. Rabiot will have his medical check on Monday and is expected to sign a four-year contract. He is leaving Marseille after issues in the team, including a fight with Jonathan Rowe. He refused to say sorry, so Marseille decided to let him go. Rabiot’s arrival at Milan follows Yunus Musah’s loan to Atalanta, creating space for him in the squad. As reported, Musah will first extend his Milan contract before moving (source). At San Siro, Rabiot will work again with coach Massimiliano Allegri, who praised Rabiot and confirmed their strong relationship from their days together at Juventus (source).
WHY THIS TRANSFER MATTERS
Milan need Rabiot to solve midfield problems, especially after Ardon Jashari got injured and Musah left on loan. Milan finished eighth in Serie A last season, missing any chance of European football for this season. Rabiot has good experience and helped Marseille finish second in Ligue 1 last season, just behind PSG. He contributed nine goals in 20 league games last season, showcasing his capabilities that can assist Milan’s midfield as they aim for the Serie A title and try to return to the Champions League group stage (source).
WHAT’S NEXT FOR MILAN AND RABIOT?
Rabiot will have his medical during the international break, and Milan’s medical team will join him. After signing the paperwork, he will join Milan and can play against Bologna. Milan are currently sitting eighth in the table, with 3 points, while Bologna are just below them with the same points. Napoli and AS Roma are top of the league, 3 points ahead of Milan. The match against Bologna is important for Milan’s ambitions, and Rabiot might debut if he is fit. Marseille, now without Rabiot, need to reinvest the transfer money as they are currently in the lower half in Ligue 1, already six points below the top four (source).
