AC Milan Target Gent’s Archie Brown for Left-Back Position

AC Milan have listed 23-year-old Gent defender Archie Brown as a possible summer signing to strengthen their left-back options.

WHAT HAPPENED?

AC Milan are searching for a new fullback in the current transfer window and have placed Archie Brown of KAA Gent on their shortlist. The English left-back, who is under contract with the Belgian side until June 2027, made 46 appearances across all competitions last season, contributing three goals and six assists. Milan are exploring options as uncertainty grows over the future of Theo Hernandez, who has been linked with several top clubs in Europe.

According to a previous report, AC Milan finished eighth in Serie A in the 2024/25 season.

ARCHIE BROWN’S RISE

Archie Brown began his professional career at Derby County before moving to Lausanne Sport in Switzerland in 2021. After impressive performances, he signed for Gent in 2023, quickly establishing himself as one of the top young fullbacks in Belgium. His pace, attacking support, and consistent performances have attracted attention from Serie A sides, including Lazio and Torino, as well as a number of Premier League clubs. He is currently valued at around €7 million.

MILAN’S SITUATION AND WHAT’S NEXT

AC Milan finished eighth in Serie A last season, failing to secure Champions League football and as such having to offload some important players like Rijndeers to Manchester City and Theo Hernandez to Saudi Arabia. Their next competitive match will be the opening round of the 2025-26 Serie A campaign, where they aim to close the gap to the top. If Milan pursue a deal for Brown, it may signal serious developments over Theo Hernandez’s future at the club, as the Frenchman continues to be the subject of transfer speculation. Gent, meanwhile, finished third in the Belgian Pro League and will compete in the Europa League next season, making any sale of Brown an important decision for their squad planning.

According to a previous report, Union Saint-Gilloise won their first Belgian top-flight title in 90 years.
