Achraf Hakimi Proud After Ballon d’Or Top 10 Finish

Achraf Hakimi says he is happy to have made the top 10 even though he missed out on winning the Ballon d’Or. The Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco defender thinks that team trophies are more important than individual awards.

WHAT HAKIMI SAID

After the 2025 Ballon d’Or rankings were announced, Hakimi said, “I’m not disappointed by not winning it, at all. It’s already very good to be in the top 10. I don’t think about the individual trophy but about the collective trophies.” Hakimi’s response shows his commitment to supporting his team more than individual honors.

2024/25 SEASON CONTEXT

Hakimi made crucial contributions to help PSG finish among the top clubs vying for the Ballon d’Or, contributing ten times throughout the 2024/25 campaign both defensively and offensively. Following PSG’s 3-0 victory against Auxerre, he served as a pillar for their success, leading them to another UEFA Champions League group stage triumph. Throughout all contests, he added six assists and scored nine goals, underscoring his significance as a full-back. This season has been remarkable for PSG as they won the Best Team award at the 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony and achieved a historic treble, finishing as French champions and Champions League winners.

This result represents Hakimi’s finest Ballon d’Or performance to date, demonstrating his development at both the club and international levels. He also helped Morocco during the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, showcasing his importance to them.

LOOKING AHEAD

The team visits Barcelona for the 2nd match in the Ligue 1, before visiting Lille on the weekend for the Ligue 1, as they sit level on points with Lyon atfter six matches and only three ahead of Marseille, Strasbourg and Monaco in Ligue 1. The game is where Hakimi will be essential to PSG’s drive for even more trophies.

Hakimi is in high demand both within his team and on the international stage. With his prime years just now beginning, he is sought after in both situations. The hardest task ahead of him now is to lead his sides to more glory.
