Ademola Lookman Pushes for Inter Move as Atalanta Hold Firm on €50 Million Price

Ademola Lookman wants to join Inter Milan this summer and has agreed to personal terms with the club, but his current team, Atalanta, have said no to Inter’s latest offer. Atalanta want €50 million for the forward.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Inter Milan offered Atalanta €42 million plus €3 million in bonuses for Lookman after an initial lower bid was rejected. Even with this improved offer, Atalanta declined and clearly stated that they want €50 million. Meetings between the two clubs were held, but no agreement was reached. Inter have already agreed on personal terms with Lookman for a five-year deal worth €4 million per season. Lookman’s side also repeated his desire to leave, but Atalanta have not agreed to sell him yet. Inter are hoping for a resolution soon and do not want discussions to go past July 31.

LOOKMAN’S IMPACT AND WHY INTER WANT HIM

Lookman has become one of the most sought-after forwards in Italy following an outstanding 2024/25 season, where he scored 13 goals and provided 8 assists in Serie A, which aided Atalanta in finishing in the top three and securing a Champions League place. He was also crucial last season when Atalanta won the Europa League. Inter see him as the perfect left-sided attacker for coach Cristian Chivu’s 3-4-3 formation, with plans to pair him with Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram. Lookman’s arrival could be linked to Mehdi Taremi’s departure, who has been connected with a move away from San Siro.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR INTER, ATALANTA AND LOOKMAN

As Inter have established July 31 as a hard deadline for negotiations, the pressure is increasing. Inter, who finished second in Serie A last season behind Napoli, are looking to improve their squad for a Champions League run. Atalanta, who will be competing in Europe again after finishing 3rd in Serie A, do not want to lose their star player for any less than their asking price. The teams will continue negotiations, but if no deal is reached by the deadline, Inter may look for other options. Atalanta will begin their new Serie A campaign against Pisa, while Inter will face Torino. Both teams finished in the top four last season, with Inter just two points behind champions Napoli and Atalanta in third, six points ahead of Roma in fifth. The final roster for both teams may be influenced by the outcome of the Lookman saga.
