Al Ittihad Win Saudi Pro League Title for 10th Time
Al Ittihad have won their 10th Saudi Pro League title. They secured it with a 3-1 win over Al Raed, and there are still two matches left to play. Coach Laurent Blanc and star player Karim Benzema led the team to victory. It’s a big change from last season for Al Ittihad.
HOW AL ITTIHAD TOOK THE TITLE
Al Ittihad had a tough start when Al Raed, who will be relegated, scored first at King Abdullah Sports City. But Al Ittihad came back strong. Steven Bergwijn and Danilo Pereira scored before halftime, and Abdulrahman Al Aboud added a goal just after the break. They now have 77 points, nine points clear of second-placed Al Hilal. No team can catch them with two matches left. Al Ittihad has been at the top since matchday 19.
HOW THEY DID IT IN 2024/25
Last season was tough for Al Ittihad, finishing fifth and 42 points behind Al Hilal. But they made big changes. They brought in Laurent Blanc as head coach and signed star players like Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kanté, Fabinho, and Houssem Aouar. Benzema, who joined in June 2023, has been key to their success with 21 goals and nine assists in 28 league games. He’s the second-top scorer behind Cristiano Ronaldo. Director Ramón Planes has been important in their rise, too.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR CHAMPIONS AL ITTIHAD?
With the title theirs, Al Ittihad now look to the final two league games. They will play Al Shabab next, who are mid-table and not a threat to the champions. Al Hilal and Al Nassr are behind them in second and third place. Now, the focus is on celebrating this title and getting ready for next season. They want to keep their success going and make a mark in continental competitions. Benzema and his teammates aim to continue their winning streak and dominate even more in the future.
