Al Nassr Close In On Feyenoord Star David Hancko With €32 Million Bid

Al Nassr are keen to sign Feyenoord’s Slovakian defender David Hancko this summer. Talks are in advanced stages. The Saudi club have made a €32 million offer as they aim to boost their squad for the new season.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Al Nassr have made Hancko their top defensive target. They have reportedly agreed personal terms with the 27-year-old for a long-term deal. The club’s medical team even went to Barcelona to check his fitness before he joins Slovakia’s Euro 2024 training camp. While Feyenoord have not yet accepted Al Nassr’s €32 million bid, the offer is close to Feyenoord’s €35 million asking price. Hancko, who started every league game for Feyenoord this season, has attracted interest from other top European clubs. However, Al Nassr’s lucrative proposal has put them in a strong position to finalize the deal soon.

WHY THIS MATTERS

Hancko played an important role in Feyenoord’s impressive campaign, starting all 32 Eredivisie matches and contributing three goals and an assist. He also featured in all 12 of Feyenoord’s Champions League games as they reached the last 16. Feyenoord finished second in the Dutch league, nine points behind champions PSV Eindhoven. They had another strong season but missed out on the top spot. Hancko’s consistent performances were key to their defensive solidity and European progress. Al Nassr, who finished as runners-up in the Saudi Pro League, see strengthening their defense with a player of Hancko’s quality as crucial to closing the gap with champions Al Hilal next season.

WHAT’S NEXT?

Negotiations are set to continue, with Al Nassr expected to return with an improved offer closer to Feyenoord’s €35 million valuation. If the transfer goes through, Hancko will join Al Nassr’s preparations for the new Saudi Pro League season. Meanwhile, Feyenoord will have to search for a replacement as they prepare for UEFA Champions League qualifiers and the new Eredivisie campaign. Al Nassr’s next competitive match will be the Saudi Super Cup, where they aim to challenge Al Hilal, who finished the season 14 points ahead of them at the top of the table.
