Al Qadsiah Launch €40m Bid For Atalanta’s Mateo Retegui

Saudi Pro League club Al Qadsiah have made a €40 million offer for Atalanta’s striker, Mateo Retegui. The Italian forward, who did well in Serie A last season, is now in serious transfer talks between the two clubs.

NEGOTIATIONS OPEN FOR RETEGUI

Al Qadsiah‘s offer of €40 million has been sent to Atalanta as they try to sign the 25-year-old striker. However, Atalanta want more money, reportedly asking for €50 million. Discussions have also started with Retegui‘s representatives as the Saudi club works hard to convince both the player and the club to agree to the deal.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE MOVE

Retegui joined Atalanta last summer and quickly became important, finishing the 2024/25 Serie A season as the club’s top scorer. His performance helped Atalanta finish 3rd in Serie A and qualify for the Champions League. Al Qadsiah made the bid after failing to sign other high-profile strikers, increasing their pursuit of the Italian international.

A previous report confirmed that Atalanta finished 3rd in Serie A last season, qualifying for the Champions League.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

With Atalanta wanting at least €50 million, negotiations will likely continue in the coming days. Retegui’s future might be decided before pre-season begins. Atalanta’s next match is a league opener against Pisa at the end of August, as they get the new Serie A campaign underway against an opponent that comes from the Serie B. Atalanta will hope to keep their main striker for these important games, but Al Qadsiah’s financial strength could lead to a quick agreement if they increase their offer.
