Alvaro Morata’s Move To Como Faces Roadblock As Galatasaray Stand Firm

Alvaro Morata’s future is up in the air. Talks between Milan, Como, and Galatasaray over financial terms of ending his loan in Turkey early have stalled.

WHAT HAPPENED?

As per a previous report, Como and Milan have an agreement worth €10 million for Morata in place, and the player has accepted personal terms regarding the transfer. However, because his current loan at Galatasaray, which runs until January 2026, is blocking the move, the Turkish club wants €6 million in order to cancel the current agreement before its scheduled end.

Despite discussions, there has been no agreement made between the two sides, and the deadline in the deal passed on Tuesday without any resolution. The move is now at risk of falling through, and Como’s fading hopes of completing the transfer could be dashed altogether if there are no further breakthroughs, with Wednesday regarded as a critical day in negotiations.

CONTEXT

Morata joined Galatasaray from Milan on loan in February 2025 for a €6 million fee. The striker was expected to leave but has established himself as a key performer, scoring five goals in 10 league games last season, and also netting in the Turkish Cup, helping Galatasaray maintain their strong domestic campaign.

For Como, managed by Cesc Fabregas, Morata’s addition would be a marquee signing, adding much-needed strength to a side that finished 10th in Serie A last season safely in mid-table. Galatasaray won the league last season and will play in the 2025-26 Champions League. Retaining attacking depth is a priority for them after confirming the 70 Million € purchase of Osimhen from Napoli.

WHAT NEXT?

Negotiations are expected to continue as all sides work towards a positive conclusion. Como’s preseason is set to be a busy one. After facing competitors for the European spots Lazio. Galatasaray, meanwhile, head to Antalyaspor in their first game of the new Super Lig campaign, as they eye another league title.

Milan opens the season against newly promoted Cremonese and will hope Morata’s situation might be resolved soon so that they can start looking forward after a disappointing year last time out. The key question now is whether Galatasaray adjusts their demands or if the deal collapses altogether.
