Carlo Ancelotti has thanked his Real Madrid players after a special period in which the club won two Champions League titles in four years. The manager asked his squad to stay together as they chase two more titles before this season ends.

WHAT HAPPENED?

In a press conference, Ancelotti thanked his players, highlighting their key role in bringing Real Madrid European glory twice in four seasons. The manager shared, “I had a really great time with them, and I still have. We have to be together as there are still two titles. We must go for it.” Under pressure after being knocked out of the Champions League, the Italian boss’ comments have added significance at a moment when he wants everyone in the dressing room to move in the same direction.

REAL MADRID’S SEASON SO FAR

Real Madrid’s season has been up and down. After finishing second in La Liga and winning the Champions League last season, the club has suffered a rare setback, crashing out in the quarterfinals at the hands of Arsenal in a humiliating home defeat. That was Ancelotti’s first time being eliminated before the semifinals as Madrid manager. Los Blancos have already won a major domestic title, but there are two more trophies up for grabs as the season enters its final few weeks, and Real Madrid remain in contention for both.

LOOKING AHEAD: TWO TITLES STILL TO WIN

And now, it is all about keeping the momentum going. Real Madrid’s next fixture is a must-win on their road to gain more silverware as they prepare for a run of challenging matches in La Liga and the Copa del Rey. While Madrid sit four points from the top of the league table, every game is a must-win for them now given how they have dropped points against relatively weaker sides throughout the season. While Ancelotti acknowledges that every game from here on is important, he will need to keep his team’s feet on the ground and prevent any complacency from creeping in.
