André Onana Sidelined for Weeks but Remains Committed to Manchester United

Manchester United must play without goalkeeper André Onana for several weeks due to his injury. Despite interest from clubs abroad, Onana plans to stay at Old Trafford next season.

ONANA RULED OUT FOR WEEKS

Andre Onana injured himself during training and will miss about two months of action for Manchester United. It is a setback for him and the club, especially as they prepare for the start of the new Premier League season. Onana, 29, has made over 100 appearances for the club since joining. Without him, United’s defense is temporarily weakened, and manager Ruben Amorim is forced to consider other goalkeeping options while Onana recovers.

NO TRANSFER MOVEMENT DESPITE INTEREST

There has been reported interest in Onana, particularly from clubs in Saudi Arabia and France, such as Lyon and AS Monaco. However, AS Monaco are not in talks to sign André Onana, and no official bids have been made. Manchester United have not received an acceptable offer for their goalkeeper. While the club would consider selling Onana if a strong offer materialized, their attention is focused on other positions. Onana himself is said to be happy at United and remains determined to prove his worth after recent scrutiny over some inconsistencies in his performances.

According to a previous report, AS Monaco are not in talks to sign André Onana.

IMPACT ON UNITED’S SEASON AND UPCOMING FIXTURES

United’s preparations are complicated by Onana’s injury as the team looks to improve on a tough finish last season, which saw them finish fifteenth in the Premier League and miss out on Champions League football. The team’s first match of the new season is against Arsenal, who finished second last year and are one of the season’s most improved teams. With Onana sidelined, United must rely on backup options as they aim for a stronger start, knowing that every point is crucial in a highly competitive top half of the table.

According to a previous report, Manchester United finished fifteenth in the Premier League for the 2024-25 season.
