Anel Ahmedhodžić Set for Feyenoord Move After Sheffield United Agreement

Feyenoord are close to signing Anel Ahmedhodžić from Sheffield United. The Bosnian defender will have a medical in Rotterdam on Tuesday.

DEAL AGREED BETWEEN FEYENOORD AND SHEFFIELD UNITED

Feyenoord and Sheffield United have agreed on the transfer for Anel Ahmedhodžić. The 26-year-old center-back will arrive for his medical tests. Ahmedhodžić was under contract with Sheffield United until 2026, but the Eredivisie team made sure to get him before he was out of contract and could move for free next summer. Ahmedhodžić has previously played for Malmö FF, Bordeaux, and Hobro IK before joining the Blades, where he made 34 Premier League appearances last season and scored two goals. He could not save the club from relegation to the Championship.

STRENGTHENING FEYENOORD’S DEFENSE

Feyenoord’s Ahmedhodžić move comes ahead of a busy period as they prepare for several crucial matches. After finishing third in the Eredivisie last season, they need defensive reinforcements, especially with the club’s recent challenges in defense during pre-season. Ahmedhodžić, who has 24 caps for Bosnia and Herzegovina, will add experience to the backline and ensure they challenge for the title while aiming for a Champions League group stage spot.

IMPORTANT WEEK FOR BOTH CLUBS

Feyenoord next face a crunch clash against Turkish side Fenerbahce in their Champions League qualifier. Feyenoord enter this tie as Eredivisie 3rd placed team, while Fenerbahce also finished second in their respective league, just behind Turkish Süper Lig champions, Galatasaray. Meanwhile, Sheffield United, newly relegated and having lost several key players, will start their Championship campaign aiming for promotion to the Premier League next season. Feyenoord will hope to register Ahmedhodžić so that he is available for the European clash.
