Archie Brown Chooses Fenerbahçe Over AC Milan in €8m Transfer

Archie Brown is in Istanbul to finish his move from Gent to Fenerbahçe. He chose the Turkish team over AC Milan and Wolves at the last minute. The English fullback will have his medical exams today. Fenerbahçe will pay €8 million plus a sell-on fee for the 23-year-old.

According to a previous report, Gent agreed on a €7 million transfer fee with AC Milan and Fenerbahçe for Archie Brown.

HOW THE TRANSFER UNFOLDED

Brown was about to join AC Milan. The deal was almost done, and Milan had a private jet waiting for him. But he changed his mind after talking to Fenerbahçe president Ali Koc. Brown says the president’s passion and vision made him choose Fenerbahçe.

A previous report confirmed that Archie Brown was expected to join AC Milan after a €7 million agreement was reached with Gent.

BACKGROUND AND WHAT IT MEANS FOR FENERBAHÇE

Brown joined Gent from Lausanne-Sport in 2023. He played 64 times and scored once. He has also played for England’s under-20 team. Fenerbahçe wants to improve their squad and win their first league title since 2014. Last year, they finished second behind Galatasaray. The club aims to build a strong team to compete with their rivals and succeed in European tournaments. Brown’s arrival is part of a big summer for Fenerbahçe, which also included bringing in Jose Mourinho to manage the team.

A previous report stated that Brown made 46 appearances for Gent last season, contributing three goals and six assists.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR BROWN AND FENERBAHÇE?

Brown will have his medical tests today and then be officially announced as a Fenerbahçe player. The team is preparing for the new season, which starts later next month. Fenerbahçe wants to integrate Brown quickly, as their goals are to win the domestic league and do well in Europe. His signing shows Fenerbahçe’s commitment to success, and expectations are high for both Brown and the club as the season approaches.
