Arsenal Close In On Cristhian Mosquera Signing From Valencia

Arsenal are finalizing the transfer of defender Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia. The deal is nearly complete, and Mosquera is in London to complete the move. Cristhian Mosquera has confirmed his move to Arsenal during an emotional farewell at Valencia.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Arsenal and Valencia have exchanged documents for Mosquera‘s transfer. The deal is €15 million plus add-ons, which may total close to €20 million. The 21-year-old has already said goodbye to his teammates and fans at Valencia. He traveled to London and will have his medical on Wednesday, ending his time with Los Che, where he made 90 appearances since joining at age 12. According to reports, Valencia is asking for around €20 million for Mosquera.

THE MOVE IN CONTEXT

Valencia sold Mosquera because his contract would expire next summer, and he didn’t want to renew. Real Madrid were interested in signing him for free in 2026, so Valencia acted to avoid losing him without a transfer fee. Mosquera’s emotional farewell showed his bond with Valencia, which he called “my home,” but he is excited for the next step in his career. Arsenal, who finished second in the Premier League last season with 70 points, want to strengthen their defense to challenge Manchester City and Liverpool.

LOOKING AHEAD: MOSQUERA’S ROLE AT ARSENAL

After his medical and once the transfer is official, Mosquera is expected to start as a backup to Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba. Manager Mikel Arteta reportedly sees him as a player with great potential who can meet the Premier League’s demands. Arsenal’s first match of the 2025-26 season is against Everton, a team that finished 15th last year. Fans hope to see if Mosquera will impress and how soon he can make an impact at his new club.
