Arsenal Maintain Interest in Eberechi Eze as Reiss Nelson Nears Fulham Move

Arsenal are still interested in Eberechi Eze. The Crystal Palace player wants to join them, and he might get his wish if Reiss Nelson’s move to Fulham goes through.

TRANSFER TALKS CONTINUE

Arsenal have been in touch with Eze since June. Eze is eager to make the move, but Arsenal are putting the deal on hold for now. Palace want Eze’s €77.8 million (£68m) release clause to be met, but Arsenal’s priority is to get Reiss off the books first. Palace are holding out for €77.8m (£68m), as they consider Eze one of the best attacking midfielders in the Premier League, according to reports on his interest to join Arsenal here.

ARSENAL AND PALACE: SEASON SO FAR

Last season, Arsenal finished 2nd in the Premier League, missing out on the title to Liverpool, and secured a place in the Champions League with a total of 74 points. Crystal Palace enjoyed a historic campaign, finishing 13th in the league but lifting the FA Cup, with Eze at the centre of their success. Eze was vital for Palace, making 31 Premier League starts with 12 goals and 5 assists last season, which has made him one of the most sought-after attacking midfielders in England.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR ARSENAL?

Arsenal’s priority is shifting players off their wage bill. Until they do, incomings will be difficult, especially when the player in question is so expensive. They will turn their full attention back to Eze once more when Nelson’s move is completed. Arsenal start their Premier League season next month against Manchester United and would like the situation resolved before that.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR CRYSTAL PALACE?

Palace’s focus at present is on avoiding relegation. Moving Eze off the wage bill would help them bring in three players – although it will be difficult to replace his quality. They start their league season against Chelsea, another title contender, as well as Arsenal, and hope it doesn’t take long for Arsenal to firm up their interest.
