Arsenal Make Move for Rennes Defender Jérémy Jacquet as Summer Transfer Plans Take Shape

Arsenal have talked to Rennes about signing promising defender Jérémy Jacquet. The Gunners are planning for this summer, and Jacquet could join if any of their current players depart.

ARSENAL TARGET JACQUET AMID POSSIBLE DEFENSIVE EXITS

Arsenal have approached Rennes about signing centre-back Jérémy Jacquet. They are keeping a close watch on strong-performing players Oleksandr Zinchenko and Jakub Kiwior, who could leave this summer. Jacquet looks solid after making 11 Ligue 1 appearances last season and building a reputation for reliability, strong aerial play, and passing. However, Rennes recently extended Jacquet’s contract until June 2029, meaning any deal would have to be completed later if Arsenal are to be realistic.

RENNES RELUCTANT TO SELL THEIR RISING STAR

Rennes came 12th in Ligue 1 last year after a strong finish. Jacquet made a significant contribution during that period, winning 60% of his duels and achieving a passing accuracy of 85%. His value is currently around €13.7 million, but his rise means it could eventually eclipse that figure. The club do not want to lose one of their best players, which would disrupt plans for the club going forward as they seek to protect his future potential.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR ARSENAL AND JACQUET?

Arsenal are ready to sign Jacquet if either Zinchenko or Kiwior leaves this summer window. If that doesn’t happen, the Gunners may have to wait until their season begins for more insight into future moves. Arsenal’s first Premier League game is against Manchester United, with both teams contneders to fight for the European spots. Sevilla have been another name linked with Jacquet recently, as they look to boost their defence for next year’s competition, but Arsenal remain favourites if any moves materialise. Rennes open against Marseille on the first matchday of the Ligue 1 and want to start positively after finishing last season so strongly in Ligue 1.
